There are five entries for Goldington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL0750/goldington/] [accessed 15 September 2015], none of which mention cleric or church in it. Cox & Harvey (1907) report a noteworthy example of 14th-century baptismal font in this church. The Victoria County History (Bedford, vol. 3, 2011) notes: "The church of Goldington was included in the foundation charter of Newnham Priory [i.e., mid-12th century] [...] There are no details in the church earlier than the 15th century, except the arch to the south aisle, which seems to be a bay of a 13th-century arcade, [...] The font, which is near the west end of the nave, is of the 14th century, and is circular on a circular pedestal, with ball-flowers on the chamfer under the bowl." Noted in Pevsner (1968): "Font. Early C14, round, with ballflower on the underside."
