Cox & Harvey (1907): "The octagon font at Dunsby, Lincs., has a most puzzling inscription on its panels. On one panel are five small circles, the centre one containing the letter i, which seems to be intended to be used in reiteration with the surrounding consonants; probably it stands for In principio. On other panels are the monograms of Jesus and Christ, and the words baptista and Maria". Noted in Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], in the fields an inscription carried right round (cf. Bourne). It reads 'Jesus Christ Maria Baptista', and in the eigth panel what Cox [cf. supra] interpreted as 'in principio'."
