The Gentleman's Magazine (vol. CCXI, August 1861: 168) reports on an excursion of the Northamptonshire Architectural Society on 30 May 1861 that visited Aldwinkle, among other places; the then Rector of St. Peter's, the Revd. H. Ward, described both St. Peter's and All Saints' for the excusionists and noted on the font at the latter: "The font was Early English, and very similar to that of St. Peter's" Cox & Harvey (1907) write: "The churchwarden accounts of Aldwincle St. Peter's, Northants, show that a bason was bought for 6d. in 1655, and in 1657 the churchwardens 'sould the ffont for iijs. vjd.' In 1662 they had to spend £I 10s. 2d. in setting it up again". Described in the Victoria County History (Northampton, vol. 3, 1930): "The earliest work in the present building is the west respond and the western cylindrical pier of the north arcade, which are c. 1180–90. At this time a north aisle was added to an earlier 12th century aisleless building [...] The late 13th-century font is similar to that at All Saints' church, with octagonal bowl and shafted stem." Pevsner & Cherry (1973) do not mention any font in either St. Peter's or All Saints'.
