Noted in Wilson (1870): "The font has several devices on its octagonal bowl, besides the date March 11, 1662 […] The font stands before the entrance into the sturdy tower, at the west end of the nave." In this entry for Ingram church, Wilson (ibid.) quotes Mr. Longstaffe, whom Wilson had asked for heraldic advice: "'A star of five points occurs above the crescent on two fonts in Northumberland in parishes containing Percy possessions, viz.: Ingram and Alnham'" -- Longstaffe's advice includes a note that the date on the Ingram font, March 11, 1632, " would be 1633" -- not clear whether the error in the adte [1662 vs. 1632] is Wilson's or Longstaffe's]. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a heraldic baptismal font dated 1664. Described in Pevsner (1957): "Font, 1662. Octagonal with elementary geometrical panels, badges, an odd tree of life, etc."
