Noted in Wilson (1870): "The font is ornamented with heraldic devices, and bears date 1664. The symbols associate it with the great Percy family" [NB: in his entry for Ingram church, Wilson quotes Mr. Longstaffe, whom Wilson had asked for heraldic advice: "'A star of five points occurs above the crescent on two fonts in Northumberland in parishes containing Percy possessions, viz.: Ingram and Alnham'" -- Longstaffe points out that the arms of the star on the Alnham font "are leaf-shaped"]. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a heraldic baptismal font dated 1664. In Pevsner (1957): "Dated 1664, octagonal, with small bowl with moulded profile, still meant to be in the Gothic tradition." The font consists of an octagonal basin with tapering moulded sides [considerable damage present], raised on an octagonal pedestal stem of two parts: the upper part has the date '1664' on one side, and a five-pointed star over a crescent moon on the contiguous side to the right [cf. supra]; the lower half of the stem is plain; square lower base and octagonal plinth, both plain. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat, with a cross finial; modern.
