Described in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a noteworthy example of Norman tub font with characteristic ornamentation. Noted in Pevsner (1978): Font. Norman, of tapering tub-shape, with a large zigzag motif and, superimposed on it, large intersecting circles." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK2052833765] notes: "Parish Church. C12, early C14, C15, early C18 and 1845 [...] C12 tapering tub font, with bold motif of zigzag and intersecting circles. Similar to one at Somersal Herbert."
