There is an entry for Bledington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP2422/bledington/] [accessed 13 December 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Tyrrell-Green (1928) lists a tub-shaped baptismal font of the Norman period here. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 6, 1965) notes: "The earliest known reference to the church of Bledington is in a confirmation of 1175, by the Pope, to Winchcombe Abbey, of all its churches. [...] The church was lavishly rebuilt in the 15th century [...] The tub-shaped font is 12th-century". The VCH entry for Lower Lemington notes the similarity with another nearby font: "The large, tub-shaped, 12th-century font, similar to the one at Bledington, stood in the chancel in 1962, when it was not in use". In Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Plain, Norman, tub-shaped." The octagonal lower base on which it rests is modern, as are the new lead lining and wooden cover, the latter flat and round, with metal decoration and ring handle.
