Described and illustrated in Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. XI, hft. 2: 47, 48, 142) as a limestone baptismal font of the type defined earlier as "musselcupps-" [=shell basin-], later with the term "paradisfuntarna" [=Paradise-fonts]; they usualy consist of a hemispheric basin ornamented with broad ribbed pattern raised on a conical pedestal base. In Reutersvärd (1967). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910510F1] as a 'musselcuppstyp' baptismal font made of limestone in the second half of the 13th century. On-site notes: the font at Visby cathedral is a variant of the more popular design, tetralobed both in the basin and the base; the basin is a red fossil-rich limestone with an iron reinforcement ring around the upper rim side; the base is a grey limestone.
