Walker (1887: 432): "An octagonal bowl, with circular orifice [i.e., basin well] and large bottom drain. It is apparently of the same date as the other example [cf. Index entry for Seton No. 1], and by the same hand; part of the shaft is worked upon the bowl, and is of exactly the same plan [NB: note however that this object is octagonal whereas Seton No. 1 is cylindrical]. A bold bead moulding runs around the arris of each of the octagon faces, and the panels so formed bear in some cases shields mostly very much defaced." The upper part of the basin shows considerable damage in Walker's illustration; of the three basin sides illustrated, two have charged shields but the third appears totally blank.
