Walker (1887) describes this font as a large octagonal plain basin with a large round inner well; at some point -Wlaker suggests 1644, when the church was rebuilt by John, Lord Hay of Yester- the font was "built into the inside of the inside of the church wall" and replaced by a "basin of pewter or silver". (Ibid., p. 402)
