Described in Walker (1887) as a "plain octagonal bowl, with a circular orifice [i.e., inner well] and large bottom drain. Each side of the octagon is formed into a panel by a marginal V-shaped incision." (Ibid., p. 402). Walker's drawing shows the holes of the lid staples on the upper surface of the rim.
