Directions to Site: Located in the area N of Glenrothes and S of the Firth of Tay, just W of the A92 from Kirkcaldy to Dundee. Inchrye is almost opposite the fine old ruined pre-Reformation church of Abdie.

Described in Walker (1887) as a "curious-looking bowl" standing now [ca. 1887] beside the fine mansion-house of Inchrye, in the parish of Abdie. Inchrye is almost opposite the fine old ruined pre-Reformation church of Abdie, which Walker suggests as the origin of this "font" (it could very well be a holy-water stoup instead]. Although of a general square shape the object is quite irregular: almost cruciform of plan, its section resembles an anvil and its elevation is squarish; at least one of the sides has an ornamentation resembling a pair of walking canes diagonal to the sides and touching at the back of the handles.
