Church Notes: founded mid-12thC(?); originally Augustinian but became Premonstratensian ca. 1175; vested in the Crown by the annexation act of 1587; [ca. 1887] in ruins.
Described in Walker (1887) as "an early bowl, possibly thirteenth century date. It is circular, with a circular orifice [i.e., basin well] and a side drain. The upper rim is a good deal broken, but has been ornamented with eight beads placed at regular intervals. The bowl is cup-shaped, and has a bold head and neck moulding at the base. It stands within the ruined Priory". (Ibid., p. 378). Described and illustrated in MacGibbon & Ross (1896-1897, v. II: 485 fig. 881)
