Described and illustrated in Walker (1887) as an octagonal basin "with a slight indentation on one side evidently made to fit to a circular pillar; he also points out the disproportional size of the inside well [cf. also the font at Castle Semple for another odd well], too narrow and deep for the size of the basin, just as the drain hole is too large. This font was removed from the church yard at the "Clachan" of Campsie some ten years before Walker [i.e., ca. 1877] and placed in the vestibule of the new parish church at Lennoxtown. (Walker, 1887, p. 361-362 and ill. on p. 364)
