Church Notes: some claims to ancient church here ca. 900 AD; first documented 1242; -- According to Walker (1887), Patrick Home concealed in the family vault in this church in 1684; there he remained for several weeks, "his celebrated daughter Grizel, afterwards Lady Grizel Baillie, supplying his wants night". The original church dated from pre-900 AD.

Font Notes:
Cylindrical tub-like baptismal font described and illustrated in Walker (1887); he suggests the date ca. 1378, the time of the second consecration (it had originally been consecrated prior to 900 A.D.) The base consists of two plinth-like round steps, the upper of the same diametre as the basin. It is totally plain.
