Described and illustrated in Pike (1989: 10): medieval font that was moved to St.Mary's, Askeaton c.1900 from Shanagolden, where it had been used in the Church of Ireland Parish Church, which incorporated the nave of an early thirteenth century Church, whose chancel was in ruins. The exterior of the cubid basin is decorated on the front and half of one other side with six-petalled flowers carved in relief, somewhat reminiscent of the 4-petalled flowers on the Killamery Cross, Ahenny group, and the 5-petalled flowers on the font at Ballybacon; the inner well of the basin is conical. It is mounted on a reconstructed pedestal and a square lower base/plinth.
