Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Pike (1989: 20) as one of "two Medieval fonts outside Freshford Roman Catholic Church, which are no longer in use. These fonts may have come from the ancient monastic Church, successor to one founded in 622 by Bishop St. Lachtan". This font, used now as holy-water stoup, "belongs to the Ossory group [...], is limestone and has a central drain. The decoration on two sides is roundheaded flutes and on the alternate two sides is Gothic arcades". This basin shows in Pike's drawing raised on a plain square pedestal base with trimmed or chamfered corners.

It is believed to have come from the old St Lachtain’s Church and is now in use in the Roman catholic Church of St Lachtain in Freshford. The base is modern [...] Compare also with the St. Canice’s and Maddoxtown examples which have more elaborate tops."
