Described and illustrated in Pike (1989: 19-20) as a "medieval stoup [..] built into the old tower of Ballyhale Church [...] which is in fact the West tower of the Medieval Church of Kiltorcan. [...] It has nine Romanesque flutes in two tiers, with a staggered bottom tier. [...] Internally the bowl is cylindrical to the front face. There is no central drain." [cf. Index entry for Ballyhale No. 2 for the second stoup in this church] [We are grateful to Dr. Rachel Moss, and to Trinity College, Dublin, for the copy of Ms. Pike's work, and to Ms. Joan Pike for her kind permission to reproduce her original drawings]
