Described and illustrated in Pike (1989) and (1987-1991): "Outside the church, this Medieval font made of rough limestone is used as a Holy Water stoup. It is said to have been the baptismal font from the old Killybegs Church[...]. A high relief figure with wings and carrying a basket is sculpted on the front of the bowl." The font has no central drainage hole and J.Pike (1987-1991: 210) notes it is strange that not one of the five ancient fonts in Co. Kildare contains an operating central drain, and suggests that the smaller fonts like the one at Leixlip were used as holy-water stoups and that there may not have been the ecclesiastical leadership on this matter in this county as in other areas.
