According to Pike (1989: 19), the baptismal font currently [ca. 1989] in use at the 20th-century St. Patrick's Memorial Church was brought to Saul from Burnchurch, Co. Kilkenny in 1933 by the Bishop of Ossory". Pike (ibid.) further reports that "the Church of Ireland [in Burnchurch], now closed, occupies the site of Medieval St. Dallan's Church", whence this font may have originated. Pike (ibid.) describes the font as "limestone, square, with central drain [...and] decorated with five double Romanesque flutes on each side and one double on each corner". This basin is raised onfour colonnettes, one at each angle.
