GET EXT PIC https://www.geograph.ie/photo/3809601 Described and illustrated in Pike (1989: 11-12) as an early font decorated with four figure sculptures in high relief, one on each side of the square font; they appear to be a boy or man with oversized hands raised in prayer. Each figure is set in a Gothic arch and columns. Pike further informs that the font may have come originally from the old church in Charleville/Rath Luirc (15 miles up the N20), where there is a ruined church at Ballysallagh. An additional basin, [cf. Index entry for Doneraile No. 2], sits on top of it. The only 'font' mentioned in the entry for this church in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage [https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/buildings-search/building/20808002/saint-marys-church-horseclose-doneraile-cork] [accessed 26 April 2023]is a "polished red granite holy water font" in the west end.
