The Catalan newspaper AVUI [Jan. 4, 1998] reported that an octagonal baptismal font devoid of any ornamentation and dating from the 12th or 13th century had been recently discovered behind a false wall during renovation works at the parish of Santa Eulàlia de Begudá. Local sources, however, inform BSI that the font had been embeded -not hidden- into a side alcove in the interior of the church, in the western wall, just north of the main door [cf. Images area]. During the restoration undertaken at that time, the font was moved to the centre of the nave, towards the W end, right in front of the main entrance to the church [W door]. The tub-shaped octagonal font is now raised 5 inches [12 cm] off the ground by a metal plate. One of the sides of the basin shows a circular indentation of about 2-3 inches (5-7 cm) in diameter with four smaller ones around it; this must have been the place where the lock of the cover was attached. This type of lock, and its position on the upper side of the basin side, is not uncommon in early fonts in both sides of the eastern Pyrenees.
