Church Notes: church ca. 1140, documented 1078; modified mid-13th, 16thC -- listed in Mérimée [ref.: PA00114557]
Font Notes:
Cloquet (1805) includes this among the Tournai fonts mounted on five-support bases; so does Enlart (1902), who gives Oise as the dept. In Pudelko (1932) the font illustrated is of the general design common in this area, not of the Tournai type; it does have corner columns in the base but the basin is octagonal both inside and out; foliated capitals on the corner columns, with scroll foliage motif on the sides of the bases; the lower base is octagonal and very short; the whole has been raised on a square plinth (?) that may well be a modern addition or replacement. Pudelko (1932) dates it to the latter half of the 13th century. The Dictionnaire des églises... (1966- ) describes it simply as a 13th century stone font. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM60000424]: "Fonts baptismaux [calcaire] datés du 13e siècle." Noted with an earlier date in Eglises de l'Oise [www.eglisesdeloise.com/monument/bury-eglise-saint-lucien/] [accessed 30 June 2017]: "Une cuve baptismale du 12ème siècle, dont le décor est proche de celui de certains chapiteaux de la nef, se voit dans le bas-côté nord (1978, modifié 2015)." There is a greenish colouring covering parts of the font; perhaps some of it is caused by algi. The wooden cover is octagonal, flat and plain, and only part of it appears to have survived.
