There are four entries for Thorington [variant spellings] in the Domesday surver [https://opendomesday.org/place/TM4274/thorington/] [accessed 11 May 2022], one of which reports 1 church and 0.06 church lands in it. Parker (1855) notes an octagonal Early English font "with a panelled bowl". Bond (1908) has: "The font at Thorington, Suffolk, has a thirteenth century bowl of Purbeck marble; its pedestal is later by two centuries". Listed in Leach (1975) as a font made of Purbeck marble; "stem is late medieval". The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TM4228374144] notes: "Very fine round tower, C12 or earlier […] Font with C13 octagonal bowl of Purbeck marble with 2 arched blank panels to each face, C15 stem carved with lions".
