Described and partially illustrated in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the decoration of the basin imitates the staves and hoops of a wooden font, nail heads included, plus a complex rope motif; the round base has a scene of a fight between a serpent and a lion on one side; on the other, a knight spears a reptile-like dragon, a likely reference to the patron church of this church, the archangel St. Michael. Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ), which indicates similarities between the fonts at Bañuelos del Rudrón, Grijalba, Villegas, Villamayor de Treviño, La Piedra, Villasandino, Rebolledo de Traspeña y Los Valcárceres. The Enciclopedia… (ibid.) suggests the base is set upside-down, and assigns a late date to it [century not specificied] based on the carving pattern. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 16 April 2022] notes about this church: "dedicada a San Miguel en el barrio de su nombre, en alto, en la ladera, separada del barrio, renacentista", and describes the font in it: " la de san Miguel es también románica, buena, con gallones y anillo, sogueadado, avenerada por dentro, y base circular con serpiente".
