Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period [NB: Bilbao (ibid.) mentions fishbone' pattern on the upper sides of the basin, but it appears to be a combination of a rope motif at the top and a band of squares or rectangles directly below]. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 6 April 2023] notes: "La pila es románica, buena, de vaso, con sogueado, arcos y gallones y base circular." The roughly hemispherical basin is ribbed inside and out; the outer ribs have double round arches superimposed; one of the spandrels shows a floral motif in it; the upper rim of the basin has a rope motif all around, below which is one row of square motifs all around; there is roll mouding at the bottom of the underbowl; the base is squat and round. There is one large nail on the side of the rim which was probably used to secure the font cover. No cover present. The concave ribbing on the sides of the inner basin suggest a later date than assigned in Bilbao [cf. supra]. There is also a wall-mounted holy-water of stone near the south entranceway.
