Listed in Guerra (1986 c1978) as an immersion baptismal font of the Romanesque period. Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1996), who mentions a reticular pattern, with the rope details perfectly reproduced. Noted in Valle Barreda (2009), who dates it as late-Romanesque and mentions much-eroded intersecting arches. The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_TERRADILLOS_DE_ESGUEVA.pdf] [accessed 6 April 2023] notes a late-Romanesque font beneath the west gallery: "Bajo el coro instalado a los pies se conserva una pila bautismal tardorrománica (de 111 cm de diámetro por 90 cm de altura); apoya sobre una basa circular baquetonada mientras la copa semiesférica aparece ornada con erosionados cordones entrecruzados." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 6 April 2023] notes: "La pila es románica, de escasa altura, con sogueado". The details of the reticular pattern were in much better shape at the time of Bilbao's visit [ca. 1996], as is discernible in the illustration in her book. The stone of the basin is now [2016] badly deteriorated and has lost much of the carving detail; according to an unnamed local source the font may have been treated with some chemical in the past; the inner well may have had a centre drain originally; if it did it is now cemented over. The roughly hemispherical basin is raised on a round pedestal base decorated with a single roll moulding. No cover present.
