Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period. Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_TABLADA_DEL_RUDRÓN.pdf] [accessed 6 Aoril 2023] as a font basin of Romanesque design ["de traza románica"], that may have ben located earlier in the Ermita de la Inmaculada, in the outskirts of the village; the large and roughly hemispherical basin is totally covered in a very original and well-executed scalloped pattern; raised on a plain circular stem that does not do honours to the basin. The Enciclopedia.. (ibid.) notes the similarity of this decorative pattern with those on the Cantabria fonts at Villasevil and Villanueva de la Nía. Valle Barreda (2009) mentions similarities between the fonts of Boada de Villadiego, Quintanarraya and Tablada del Rudrón. No cover present but there are metal staples in the upper rim, evidence of anchorings for an old cover. [NB: not lnown whether the nearby Ermita de la Inmaculada Concepción [originally Nuestra Señora or Santa María], a Romanesque chapel with earlier traces of 9th-11thC work [see Jacinto Campillo Cueva's HALLAZGOS ALTOMEDIEVALES EN LA ERMITA DE TABLADA DEL RUDRON (BURGOS), KOBIE (Serie Paleoantropología), Bilbao Bizkaiko Foru Aldundia-Diputación Foral de Bizkaia N.º XX, 1992/93 [https://www.bizkaia.eus/fitxategiak/04/ondarea/Kobie/PDF/2/kobie_20_HALLAZGOS ALTOMEDIEVALES EN LA ERMITADE TABLADA DE_14.pdf?hash=81a99250b675fe93a9a7906cc9f58bf1] [accessed 2 January 2021], has a font now or not, though nnone shows in the Enciclopedia entry]. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 6 April 2023] notes: "La pila es de copa, avenerada por fuera, con escamas y pie cilíndrico".
