Scene Description: the pattern here is one of those in-between the full arcade and the framed-ribs so common in fonts in the area -- the torsade decoration here appears only just below the spandrel where the arch-heads meet, and the rest of the 'column' is plain

Described in Bilbao (1996). Noted and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2009). The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del romanico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_LA_SEQUERA_DE_AZA.pdf] [accessed 5 April 2023] notes: "es románica la pila bautismal, situada en la cabecera. Presenta forma de copa, de 106 cm de diámetro por 79 cm de altura y 11 cm de embocadura, con un vaso hemisférico sobre basa circular. La decoración se ha realizado mediante una arquería que forman trece arcos de medio punto con columnas entorchadas en su parte superior, todo bajo un reborde liso." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 5 April 2023] notes: "La pila es románica, buena, con sogueados formando arcos y base circular con molduras". Baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the basin is ornamented with an arcade of round arches mounted on columns that have torsade pattern on the upper half; on a squat round base. No cover present but the upper rim has two metal staples for the anchoring of the cover.
