Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1996) [NB: the illustration for the Santillán font in this source is wrongly captioned: fig. 108 is labelled 107 and viceversa. The image at the top right side corresponds to the Santillán font]. García de Castro Valdés (2000) notes medieval quadrangular fonts in Spain at Beloncio, Bullaso, San Isidoro de Leon, Villanueva de Valdecarzana (suggested date in the 11th century); Armentia, Bustasur, Dosante, Gormaz, Quintanillabon, Rosales, Santillan del Agua, Soto de Bureba (suggested date in the 12th or 13th century); Ripodas and Turrillas (suggested date in the 13th century). Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_SANTILLÁN_DEL_AGUA.pdf' [accessed 5 April 2023], which questions Bilbao's reading of the inscription, her identification of the sketchy figure and the association of the scratchy lines with baptismal symbolism; instead, the Enciclopedia… offers a more rational reading of the inscription: "NOS : MARTINVS : MISERACO(rdi)E DIVI(n)A : BVRGEN(sis) : EP(iscopv)S : CO(nsecravit)", which would put the font in the mandate of bishop Martin Gonzalez of Burgos, the years between 1260 and 1267. The Enciclopedia… further dismisses that it could be an earlier font re-carved. In Valle Barreda (2009), after the Enciclopedia... The work is very crude and irregular in shape, but generally rectangular with tapering sides; starting with one of the narrow sides: 1)Greek potent cross with six-petaled floral motif in a circle to the right, a human figure crudely rendered below; vertical bands of zigzag pattern on both sides 2)long side: a band of inscription towards the upper side [cf. supra], much eroded and damaged but still discernible in part; incised or scratched volutes, circles or foliage below; 3)narrow side: large Greek potent cross in the centre with smaller one in the upper left corner; 4) long side:
