Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1996). Noted and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2009). The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 5 April 2022] notes: "La pila es románica con cenefa de rosetas, gallones y base cuadrada". Baptismal font of the Romanesque period, in the general design popular in this area; the roughly hemispheric basin is ornamented with a band of four-petal flowers inscribed in circles at the upper basin side; the lower basin sides and undernowl are covered in ribbed pattern; raised on a short round-to-square base with roll moulding and with unidentified motifs at the angles [they may have been intended as animals, but they are very worn now; they are not the more common ball motif]. There is no font cover present but a lead plug in the upper rim of the basin and damage at the opposite end suggest these were anchorings for an earlier cover.
