Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period. Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_SALAZAR_DE_AMAYA.pdf] [accessed 4 April 2023] as a limestone baptismal font of the Romanesque period consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin that has a band of linked rings interlace around the side as the only decoration: "En su interior se conserva una antigua pila bautismal, ubicada en el baptisterio, en la nave de la epístola. [NB: there is a cut in the upper rim with a good chunk of the stone removed by expert hands; perhaps it was an attempt at repairing it with a stone insert but was never finished; the cut happens to be exactly at the opposite side of where the other metal staple shows through the stone]; raised on a plain cylindrical base. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 4 April 2023] notes: "La pila es románica, decorada, con pie cilíndrico".
