Church Notes: medieval church [Romanesque?] re-built 17thC
Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period with original decoration. The basin is ornamented with a band of zigzag, chevron and triangular motifs as well as scrolls and a single Maltese cross in a circle just below the upper rim; on the sides and underbowl is a large fleurdelysée cross surrounded by scroll motifs; the quadrangular base has fleurs-de-lis at the upper angles; on a circular plinth. The font, as suggested in the Enciclopedia del románico [cf. supra], was likely re-carved in the 17th century, when the church was re-built. The wooden cover is round, flat and plain, hinged in the middle; modern.
