Described in Bilbao (1996) as one of a group of rectangular baptismal fonts of the Romanesque period. García de Castro Valdés (2000) notes medieval quadrangular fonts in Spain at Beloncio, Bullaso, San Isidoro de Leon, Villanueva de Valdecarzana (suggested date in the 11th century); Armentia, Bustasur, Dosante, Gormaz, Quinanillabon, Rosales, Santillan del Agua, Soto de Bureba (suggested date in the 12th or 13th century); Ripodas and Turrillas (suggested date in the 13th century). The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 10 March 2021] notes: "San Andrés, Apóstol, es el titular de su iglesia, gótica [...] La pila es lisa, cuadrada". The square basin is irregular, not quite cubic; unlike some of the other quadrangular fonts of the area [e.g.: Castil de Lences] this font has a circular inner well; the only decoration is a thin moulding at the upper rim; it is raised on a short modern base. No cover present.
