Font Notes:
Described in Bilbao (1996: 288) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the basin has an arcade over the ribbed pattern and also rope motif. Base has ring moulding; lower base is plain. No entry found for this locality in the Enciclopedia del románico. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed November 2022] notes: "La pila es románica con sogueado en el borde, arquitos y gallones y base circular moldurada". Despite claims to an earlier pedigree, the baptismal font of this church dates probably to the late-Gothic period when the church itself was built. It stands on a two-step plinth and it has been recently re-tooled /restored. The wooden cover is round and flat with moulded decoration on the top surface.
