Described in Bilbao (1996: 288) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; basin is ornamented with ribbed pattern; rests directly on the ground. The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_QUINCOCES_DE_YUSO.pdf] [accessed 29 March 2023] refers to this font as one of the few remains of its Romanesque church: "pila bautismal formada únicamente por una copa avenerada de 98 cm de diámetro por 85 de altura." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed November 2022] notes: "iglesia, dedicada a Santa María. The font has no cover at present but there is evidence of damage caused by cover anchorings in the upper rim of the basin. [NB: the church of the abandoned hamlet of Quincoces de Suso (not Yuso) contains some Gothic paintings; it is in ruins and there is no font in it; it had fallen into disuse by the mid-20thC].
