Described in Bilbao (1996). Noted and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2009). The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_PINILLA_DE_LOS_MOROS.pdf] [accessed 29 March 2023] reads: "El único resto románico es la pila bautismal, una pieza de arenisca en forma de copa, con una altura de 95 cm y un diámetro de 84 cm. El hemisférico vaso se decora con una cenefa superior recorrida por un tosco zarcillo que es vomitado por una cabecita de león, bajo la cual se halla la habitual articulación a base de gallones. Tiene pie cilíndrico y basa cuadrada r ecorrida por un toro circular con decoración de arquillos." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 19 January 2022] notes: "iglesia dedicada a San Román, mártir, renacentista tardío [...] La pila, buena, es románica con cenefa vegetal, gallones, pie circular y base cuadrada con molduras". Baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the round basin has a band on which an acanthus vine stems from the mouth of a lion head; ribbed pattern below; round-to-square lower base, roll moulding atop, round arch-heads on the sides of the square lower volume. Metal staples from the old cover remain in the upper rim. No cover present.
