Described in Bilbao (1996: 287) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period, originally from the church of San Sebastian, granja Pinilla; the ribbed basin has a small arcade over-imposed; square base. The entry for Pinilla de Arlanza in the Enciclopedia del románico [www.romanicodigital.com] [accessed 20 Dece, ber 2022] [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_PINILLA_DE_ARLANZA.pdf] [accessed 28 March 2023] mentions the Iglesia de San Sebastián, the font of which is now located in Peral de Arlanza now resides: "Su pila bautismal, algo posterior, se conserva en la iglesia de Peral de Arlanza". The entry for Peral de Arlanza in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed December 2022] mentions its church and a Romanesque font with a basin decorated with a ribbed pattern: "una iglesia dedicada a San Juan Bautista [...] La pila es románica, con gallones, sobre base de cemento". Nebrero Perdiguero's entry for Pinilla de Arlanza describes it as a farm with a church dedicated to St. Sebastian but mentions no font in it: "Tiene una iglesia, dedicada a San Sebastián, con canes lisos en aleros, portada sencilla y una espadaña con un campanillo." [NB: the "square base" noted in Bilbao [cf. supra] is the one supporting the old basin now [2022] and it cannot have been there in 1976 when Nebreda Perdiguero described this font; it is a total mismatch; furthermore, there has been a recent (?) intervention to repair the upper rim with cement and has added an inscription in modern Spanish on the upper surface of the rim]. There is no cover present.
