Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1996: fig. 19, p. 99, 286) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; this font, located now in the church of Santa Eulalia, beneath the gallery, north side, was originally at the nearby castle [cf. infra]; the basin is hemispherical with extended vertical sides and is ornamented with four large grape vines, one to each cardinal point, each bearing four bunches of grapes (?). Very small base; the square lower base has a ball at each angle. The entry for this village in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_PALACIOS_DE_LA_SIERRA.pdf] [accessed 25 November 2021] reckons this font is originally from the disappeared church of Santa Olalla, the ruins of which are near the castle site [cf. supra]; this font was eventually moved to the parish church of Santa Eulalia, to a lapidarium located at the west end of the nave ["pila bautismal hoy conservada en el depósito lapidario de la parroquial sito bajo el coro, donde se recogieron igualmente numerosas estelas de la necrópolis adyacente. De copa semiesférica, casi cilíndrica, mide 84 cm de diámetro por 61 cm de altura y se decora con un listel en la embocadura, banda inferior de grandes semibezantes y cuatro grandes vides de cuyas ramas penden pesados racimos a modo de piñas. Se alza sobre una basa de 27 cm de altura, con perfil ático con bolas y sobre fino plinto." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed March 2023] mentions two fonts in its church: "La pila es románica, con cenefa decorada y gallones y pie cilíndrico con molduras. (Hay otra con racimos de uvas)."
