Described in Bilbao (1994) and (1996): dodecagonal basin, one of the sides invisible because it is embedded in the wall; other sides have ornamentation: flower with six petals, three smaller flowers forming a pyramid, large fleur-de-lis, another such, a cross, a tree-like figure, another such, a rampant lion, a fortress with three towers, vegetal motif, another such. Plain base. [NB: Bilbao describes the font as Gothic in one of her works (1994: 126) but includes it as well in her book (1996) on Romanesque works]. No entry found for Muergas in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/]. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 27 March 2023] reports a Gothic font in its church: "La pila es gótica, tipo vaso, con decoración y pie cilíndrico liso y basa también cilíndrica".
