Scene Description: Source caption: "puerta de anchas arquivoltas apuntadas, dos de ellas decoradas con prominente zigzagueado y picos resaltados Son las otras dos restantes las que centran toda nuestra atención. La arquivolta interior tiene once medallones circulares donde se tallaron animales y figuras a bajorrelieve de gran belleza y cuya interpretación se aproxima a la de un zodiaco. La talla es de gran expresividad y sobresalen los escorzos que los animales han de hacer para adaptarse al marco circular en que se inscriben. La tercera arquivolta es también muy expresiva, aunque parece de manos muy distintas pues las figuras que esculpió este artista aparecen en un altorrelieve muy acentuado. Las cabezas de los personajes tiene una característica forma de gota y sus rostro evidencian esquematismo en los rasgos: ojos almendrados saltones, nariz triangular y boca pequeña sólo incisa sin labios. Estos personajes son, en su mayoría, músicos, bailarinas o contorsionistas. Aunque hay un grupo de tres que semejan a un rey, un monje y un anciano." Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period. Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/MIÑON DE SANTIBAÑEZ.pdf] [accessed 23 March 2023] reports a baptismal font probably of the 13th century: "De posible traza románica es también la pila bautismal aunque su labra a trinchante apunta hacia una cronología tardía, centrada en la primera mitad del siglo XIII. Es de forma semiesférica (112 cm de diámetro × 82 cm de altura) y presenta como única decoración una sucesión de arquillos en la parte superior." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 23 March 2023] notes: "iglesia dedicada a San Pedro Apóstol y es gótica [...] El ábside es románico [...] La portada es románica, muy buena, del siglo XII, con los signos del zodíaco [...] La pila es románica, sencilla y lisa, con arcos continuados en borde y pie cilíndrico". The roughly hemispherical basin has a row of round arch-heads all around below the upper rim; the squat base is round and plain. There is a metal strap around the base that connects to the flat cover via another metal strap. The wooden cover is flat and plain, modern.
