Described in Bilbao (1996). Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_MELGOSA_DE_VILLADIEGO.pdf] [accessed 23 March 2023] [accessed 23 Mach 2023] as a Romanesque font made of limestone; the roughly hemispherical basin has ribbed pattern ornamentation inside and out; the outer side has an arcade superimposed on the ribs; the rim has two levels; the squat base is round and moulded; the Enciclopedia (ibid.) suggests the font at nearby Villanueva de Puerta as having some similarities with this one: "pila bautismal de traza románica. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 23 March 2023] describes its baptismal font: "La pila es románica, buena, con gallones exteriores unidos por anillo, con avenerado interior y pie circular moldurado."
