Described in Pérez Carmona (1974). In Guerra (1986 c1978), who mentions the festooned wavy line as a symbol of the baptismal water. In Bilbao (1996). In Valle Barreda (2009). The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_JARAMILLO_DE_LA_FUENTE.pdf] [accessed 22 March 2023] reports a font: "En un nicho del muro del evangelio se custodia una pila bautismal de 113 cm de diámetro × 69 cm de altura, la copa troncocónica está decorada con una arquería de medio punto que apoya sobre columnillas pareadas, por encima corre una guirnalda vegetal ondulante de hojas lanceoladas." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 22 March 2023] notes: "iglesia románica […] dedicada a la Asunción de Nuestra Señora. La cabecera es románica […] El ábside es románico […] La portada es románica […] La torre es también románica […] La pila es románica, con arcos y cenefa superior en relieve". The baptismal font is a bucket-shaped basin that now appears to rest directly on the wooden floor [but may actually have a lower base under the flooring]; the basin is decorated with a roll moulding at the upper rim, below which is a highly-stylised acanthus vine, some of its leaves, lanceolated; below the vine the sides are decorated with a blind arcade of round arches resting on double columns with capitals and bases; there is damage to the upper rim sides, with chunks of stone missing; one corresponds to one of the old metal staples of the cover locking hardware, two staples of which are still left in the upper rim; the inner well of the basin does not show a clear drain, but it is possible it may have been cemented over. The wooden cover is round and flat, with a Latin cross motif atop, hinged about 2/3 back; appears modern.
