Described in Bilbao (1996). Described and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2009), who suggests a workshop that produced the fonts at Vadillo and Zayuelas, in Soria province. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 25 March 2021] notes: "iglesia dedicada a la Asunción de Nuestra Señora, barroca [...] La pila es románica con arcos en relieve, cenefa vegetal y borde moldurado y tiene base poligonal." Baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the large hemispherical basin has a vine covering part of the side, but it becomes a hunting scene in which one quadruped attacks another [Valle Barreda (ibid.) suggests a feline attacking a deer], as the tail of one animal becomes the central trunk of the vine; an arcade of round beaded-tape arches below, on columns with capitals; varied motifs and symbols in the spandrels; on a modern (?) base. No cover present but there is evidence of damage to the upper rim from former metal anchorings. Noted and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_LA_GALLEGA.pdf] [accessed 26 March 2021], which notes similarities with other fonts in the area: "La pila parece salida del mismo taller que realizó las sorianas de Vadillo y Zayuelas en las que se repite el motivo de la lucha de animales, relacionándose también con las de Blacos, Espeja de San Marcelino, Muriel de la Fuente, etc"
