Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period. Described in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_ESPINOSILLA_DE_SAN_BARTOLOMÉ.pdf] [accessed 16 March 2023]: De fábrica románica es también la pila bautismal, sita en el anexo de la portada. Posee una traza muy básica, con pie circular decorado con motivo de cordado y copa del tipo troncocónico invertido, con estrechamiento acentuado en la subcopa, lisa en su exterior y avenerada al inte-rior, con un diámetro de 130 cm." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 16 March 2023] notes: "hermosa iglesia dedicada a San Millán, abad, de cabecera románica con bóveda de medio cañón […] El ábside es románico […] La pila es románica, de copa, lisa por fuera y avenerada por dentro." The font consists of a basin plain on the outside but decorated with concave ribbing all around the inside, which suggests a date in the Gothic period; the base may have been decorated with rope motif but is very worn, practically indiscernible now. No cover present.
