Scene Description: with a partial view of the underbowl -- notice also partial zig-zag patterns above the heads on the pedestal; it is hard to discern whether they are just fragments of a continuous band or not

Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1994) and (1996) as a medieval baptismal font; the sides of the octagonal bowl is decorated with, flowers and flowery trimmings; the underbowl has ears of corn alternating with human heads; the base, also octagonal, has four grotesque heads or mascarons, one facing each of the cardinal points; the lower base is ornamented with diamond motifs. Bilbao (ibid.) cites an entry in the Catálogo Monumental de la Diócesis de Vitoria. [NB: the font is listed in Bilbao's first work 1994: 115) as late medieval ["Medieval tardía"], but appears also in her 1996 work (278, etc.) dealing with Romanesque fonts of the area. Noted in Sáenz Rodríguez (2004) without a date. The entry for this village in the Auñamendi Eusko Entziklopedia [https://aunamendi.eusko-ikaskuntza.eus/es/dorono/ar-45313/] [accessed 13 April 2021] reports: "cuidada pila bautismal de copa octogonal con decoración vegetal en la zona más alta y rostros humanos en la zona inferior." The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 16 March 2023] notes: "La pila bautismal es medieval, octogonal, en forma de taza, decorada y pie también octogonal."
Evidence of metal anchorings for a cover in the upper rim, but no cover present.
