Church Notes: Madoz' Diccionario [www.diccionariomadoz.org/historia-CABIA-1-20104.html] [accessed 13 June 2015] gives the dedication pf the church as the Assumption of St. Mary
Listed in Pérez Carmona (1974) and in Guerra (1978) as a an immersion baptismal font of the Romanesque period. Described in Bilbao (1986). Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_CABIA.pdf] [accessed 19 March 2023] with suggested date in the late 12th century; bucket-shaped basin has inside carved with seventeen concave ribs; outside it has round arches housing fifteen figures, of which 12 are identified as the Apostles, two others wear tiaras and hold staffs, the last just a staff, all three identified by Bilbao (ibid.) as clerics; around the upper side of the basin is a three-strand braid; the basin rests on a round plinth: "El único vestigio románico se localiza en el interior y corresponde a un notable ejemplar de pila bautismal, decorada con una arquería que recorre todo el perímetro de la copa.
The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed March 2023] reports a very good Romanesque font decorated with fifteen figures in an arcade: "La pila es románica, muy buena, con 15 figuras bajo arcos y trenza". On-site notes: metal staples from an old cover are evident in the upper rim, as are several cuts and notches in the stone; two of the fifteen figures are bishops, both wearing a mitre and holding a staff; one of the figures may be the Virgin Mary in orant position; the other twelve could be the 12 Apostles, one of whom is clearly identified as Peter by his symbol, the keys; St. Peter is also the patron saint of this parish church, although it may have been dedicated at some point to the Assumption of St. Mary [cf. entry in Madoz' Diccionario], and it is not clear whether the font was originally from this or another church. There are two objects located inside the church, in niches to the right and left of the main entranceway, being used now as holy-water stoups; we have no information on them; they may have been brought in from other places [cf.
