Described and illustrated in Roe (1968: 67-68): a fragment of a baptismal font, said to be from Martry, sits in the porch of St. Columba's Church (C. of I.). Roe states that "the fragment appears to be part of the lower register of a well-carved, probably octagonal, vessel [...] on the one panel still complete is a demi-angel with large raised wings. The dimensions of the fragment given by Roe (ibid.) are: "Under panel 23 cm. wide tapering to 16 cm. by 14 cm. high. Diameter of basin at bottom approx. 39.5 cm." According to Roe (ibid.), "until a couple years ago [i.e., ca. 1966] when the piece was brought into the church at Kells, it lay half-buried in fallen masonry and overgrown with nettles and weeds." [cf. Index entries for Kells Nos. 1 and 3 for two other baptismal objects in this church]. Described and illustrated in Pike (1989: 50) A modern baptismal font formerly in St. Mary's Church, Dublin, bears the date 1898.
