The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed March 2023] notes: "La pila es de las llamadas de piscina, estrecha, con arcos en relieve y sogueado en el borde, con base circular moldurada." Described in Bilbao (1996). The Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_BEZARES.pdf] [accessed 10 March 2023] describes and illustrates the font here as the only Romanesque item remaining of the medieval church: "l único resto conservado de época románica es su pila bautismal, situada a los pies, junto al muro meridional. Described and illustrated in Valle Barreda (2009), with date in the 12th century. The bucket-shaped basin is decorated with a rope moulding around the upper rim, and a blind arcade below, the arches of the arcade alternating between round and mitre-pointed, resting on columns with capitals; floral motifs in the spandrels; modern lower base. The upper rim of the basin retains two metal staples from the old cover at opposite ends.
