The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed March 2023] notes: "La pila es románica, con decoración vegetal y arcos". Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1996: fig. 94, 272 et al.) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed September 2022] notes: "La pila es románica, con decoración vegetal y arcos". No entry found for Belbimbre in the Enciclopedia del románico. Described in Francisco Javier Gómez Oňa (2020: 103) as Romanesque, decorated with arches and foliage motifs, the base fluted. The basin is roughly hemispherical and has an arcade of round arches all around the sides, sides that are tapering rather than vertical; inside the arches are a number of plants or trees, as well as a human figure, a processional cross and a radiated holy wafer on a chalice; the upper rim is decorated with a parallel double groove; the rounded underbowl has a pattern of incised outlines that appear leaf-like; Bilbao [ibid.) identifies several of tham as fish; the short base is round, decorated with a roll moulding atop and a row of broad flutes that may have originally been intended as an arcade or a row of niches. There is no cover present but there are two metal staples still in the upper rim.
